Dr Richard Birch Acupuncture: Health Consultant roles:

Put a health consultant in the Picture

A health consultant first listens and then has strategies that can be of help whatever your state of health. Health is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." (WHO) This clearly illustrates health as an infinite paradigm; you can always get yourself a little more of it.

"Something healthy each day keeps the Doctor away"

You have very likely noticed being vulnerable to illness such as viral infection at times when you are "run down" from the insults of the world. Eating an apple is a good start, but your health consultant knows alot more can be done. Also, in enhancing your health it is highly likely that any medical conditions you already have will be helped. You will be encouraged to continue to seek medical care, which is likely to be more effective as you gain in your ability to engage in the therapeutic process.

Many people report very positive experiences of care from their GP practice. This demonstrates how a primary care approach can be so helpful and a good reason to afford extra resources on such care. Although NHS staff are currently pushed for time it is likely that in the future the NHS will recognise the benefits of preventing exacerbation of medical conditions and provide more funding to the non-invasive therapies. In the meantime, if you can afford to do this for yourself it is highly likely to be a worthwhile investment.

A Health Consultant is a generalist able to draw on a range of techniques to enhance health. If it is agreed with a client that one particular therapy should be employed at a specialist level, a Health Consultant can work collaboratively with colleagues as required.
